Guess who's retiring?

This guy. After 25 years of professing his love for literature, Dad is opting to focus on his own writing. He and Mom are moving to Oklahoma to pursue the finer things in life: writing, planting, chasing the doggies. New Orleans will miss them.

Dad-daughter weekend

Dad braved the drive from New Orleans to Houston to visit for the weekend. Our parent-kid weekends are always bursting with activities, and this one was no different. We ate, talked, ate again, talked over a brew, basked in sunlight, ate again, walked, reminisced. Oh, and ate some more. The highlight of the weekend had to be the Impressionism exhibit at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. We Ferris Buellered every painting-- far away, closer, really close, almost touching. My favorite was Madame Monet and Her Son (The Walk, Woman with a Parasol). It mirrored our relaxed, breezy weekend.
